Chirk Castle Oak Fountain Pen

This lovely pen is made from timber salvaged from one of the Great Oaks of Chirk Castle in North Wales. The national trust were unsure of the age of the tree but it is thought that it could date back to the building of the castle which would put it at 900 years. other estimates put it at between 500 and 900. Either way it is splendid Burr Oak. I acquired the timber from the family of a wonderful furniture maker who passed away far to soon. He made wonderful items for the national trust from this very special timber. This pen has some great colour and has gold style fittings. A very special gift for someone who deserves something very special. The pen comes fitted with a fillable cartridge suitable for ink wells but I also include a full replaceable ink cartridge.
