Bowl from Australian Grass Tree Root
Most unusual Bowl from Aussie Grass tree
This bowl is made from one of the most unusual woods I have ever worked with. I first worked with it when I lived in Australia. It is not strictly a wood but a fern of sorts. Xanthorrhoea pressi is its botanical name. one of the slowest and oldest growing plants on the planet, it is found in the Australian outback and is only collected under licence when dead.
I have retained the natural edge of the piece which has great texture and have grooved the underside which has always been a signature style of mine when working with this wood. It is 20cms in diameter and would be a most unusual gift for a wood lover. ( or an Aussie far from home!)
Postage is included within the UK.
